The National Commission for Culture and the Arts has submitted the name of Superstar Nora Aunor along with other names for recommendation to the Office of MalacaƱang as National Artist.
In a report made by Cata Tibayan for GMA7's 24 Oras Chika Minute segment, the recommendation was made as early as September of 2013. It is expected that the announcement from MalacaƱang will be made this month or before the year ends to have Aunor proclaimed as "Pambansang Alagad ng Sining sa Larangan ng Pelikula".
According to NCCA, Aunor has passed various criteria of the committee for her to be recommended as national artist. Aunor has countless number of acting awards reaped for her movies both from local and international award-giving bodies.
Some of her memorable movies include Himala, The Flor Contemplacion Story, Bona, and Thy Womb. The Superstar ws also awarded Ani ng Dangal Award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in 2013 and 2014.
