Unexpectedly Yours earns Php 14 million on its first day

Star Cinema's latest film "Unexpectedly Yours" made an impressive performance on its first day at the box office. The film outfit announced on its social media accounts that it earned Php 14 million on Wednesday.

The movie which was given an A-rating by the Cinema Evaluation Board is a reunion movie of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla. It also marks the third film of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia as love team following their first two hits - Vince, Kath &James and Love You To The Stars and Back.

Julia Barretto has confirmed she and love team partner Joshua Garcia are already in a romantic relationship.

In an interview with Boy Abunda last night at Tonight With Boy Abunda, Julia was asked why she still hasn't answered Joshua.

Boy asked, "Bakit hindi mo pa sinasagot si Joshua?"

Julia took a while before she answered. "Buti na lang honest ako, Tito Boy", she quipped.

"First of all, sino bang nagsabing hindi pa?", was Julia\s rhetoric answer.

To this, Boy, Erich, and everyone in the studio burst into laughter filled with kilig. Julia also added, "Bakit may pag-assume kayo agad?" while touching her hair.

Joshua and Julia first worked together in the 2016 MMFF movie Vince & Kath & James. Since then, they have been regularly seen together but no confirmation was given.

During the presscon for their latest movie Unexpectedly Yours, their co-star Sharon Cunetaa revealed the two are in a relationship. She said that JoshLia calls each other B1 and B2 for Baba1 and Baba2.

Sharon pointed out that “mahal na mahal na mahal nila ang isa’t-isa grabe.”

Unexpectedly Yours opens today in cinemas nationwide.

Star Cinema has released the official teaser of its latest movie "Unexpectedly Yours" which reunites 90's mega loveteam Robin Padilla and Sharon Cuneta. They will be joined by the millennial love team of Joshu Garcia and Julia Barretto.

In the movie, Cuneta and Barretto play mother and daughter while Padilla and Garcia are uncle and nephew.

The movie lives up to its title as it was really unexpected to be shown as early as this month since it just started filming a few weeks ago.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, the movie opens in cinemas November 29 nationwide.

This 2016, the breakout textserye is now a major motion picture. Star Cinema has released the first trailer of "Vince & Kath & James" - their official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival this year..

Vince & Kath & James is based on the story of Vince & Kath which became viral in Facebook. Their story was told via SMS  messages. It  features today's most promising young stars - Joshua Garcia, Ronnie Alonte, and Julia Barretto under the direction of Theodore Boborol.

In the trailer, Vince (Garcia) and Kath (Barretto) are friends until James (Alonte) came and seek the help of Vince to send text messages to Kath using the pseudonym "Var". When the day James decided to come out and introduce himself to Kath came, Vince has developed a feelings for his friend Kath.

The movie poses the question, "Kaya mo bang magmahal with #NoFilter?"

We think, the most kilig part of the trailer is at the end of the video.

Joshua Garcia gets rave reviews from MMFF screening committee for Vince & Kath & James

ABS-CBN teen actor Joshua Garcia has impressed some members of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival screening committee after reviewing the film Vince & Kath & James where the actor is part of.

Garcia plays Vince in the movie which is Star Cinema's official entry to this year's festival.

According to Mae Paner aka Juana Change who's one of the members of the committee, she had no idea who Garcia is but but confessed she was smitten by the performance of the teen actor.

“Sabi namin, ‘ano ang pangalan ng batang ’yan? Grabe!” Sabi namin, ‘future Papa P (Piolo Pascual) ’yan.” To the very end, hindi namin siya kilala pero we all fell in love with him. Sino ba ’yun? Si Vince sa Vince & Kath & James, OMG! Grabe, hindi ko siya kinaya. Parang crush ko na siya,”

“This particular boy is really amazing. Napaka-intelligent ng approach niya sa acting, ’yung internalization niya, ’yung shift niya of emotion, amazing for somebody so young,” said Tiongson.

Iza Calzado plays mom to Julia Barretto's character in The Second Wife

Iza Calzado was reluctant at first when she was offered a role to become mother of teen actress Julia Barretto in ABS-CBN's upcoming primetime series The Second Wife.

Iza (33) admitted that she was surprised when she was offered the role parenting a 19-year old Julia.

“Wala pa nga akong anak," she said.

But what made her consider accepting the role was when fellow younger actresses Jodi Sta Maria and Angelica Panganiban played mothers to Daniel Padilla ang Kathryn Bernardo in Pangako Sa 'Yo. Then she did the calculation of such possibility.

"Honestly, if I got pregnant at 17 or something, I would have had her. She would have been my baby”, she said.

Calzado said to be considered for the role is already a huge honor since it has been her dream to work with actress Bea Alonzo.

“I’m very excited. This is a dream cast for me. This is also my first time to work with Star Creatives so talagang nung ibinalita sa akin, sabi ng manager ko noon, may ipi-pitch daw na project. Nung sinabi pa lang na si Bea 'yung kasama ko, sobrang na-excite na ako,” she said.

According to Calzado, “The Second Wife” is about an unconventional family and how they deal with their complicated lives. She'll play the first wife of Ian Veneracion’s character with Alonzo in the titular role.

Julia Barretto posts photo with father Dennis Padilla on Instagram

Kapamilya teen actress Julia Barretto posted on her Instagram account @juliabarretto a photo of her with father Dennis Padilla. She captioned it with, "Papa being his comedian self".

The photo which received more than 26,000 likes within two hours since it was posted elicited mixed reactions from netizens. Fans of the teen actress said they were happy and wished that the good relationship with her father to continue.

Others were doubting and questioned the sincerity.

"Haha biglang ok na oh. Bka nman pakitang tao lng yaaaan", said one follower.

"Sana true yan hnd lng palabas idol kita @juliabarretto pero nung hnd m pinansin papa m in one event inanfollow kta kaya ngaun follow n ulit. Father is always a father", said another

Recall that the two headlined several news articles on print, broadcast and social media when Julia decided to push for her real family name "Baldivia" to be dropped and adapt her mother's (Marjorie Barretto) last name instead.

Julia found herself in the midst of negative criticisms from netizens since then and most recently got involved with another snubbing incident with her father in a party.

Her time has come. Julia Barretto is Mirabella

ABS-CBN Network is launching a new drama princess in primetime. In no time, we will be seeing a fresh face on TV yet a familiar one. Julia Barretto,daughter actors Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla. A part of the latest batch launched of Star Magic Circle, Batch 19, Julia has undergone several acting workshops under Star Magic.

Julia, topbills Mirabella, ABS-CBN's new show for 2014, says she's very excited about her new project, which will team her up with today's hottest leading man - Enrique Gil and uber-talented Sam Concepcion.



Earlier reports named Diego Loyzaga and Kiko Estrada as her leading men but ABS-CBN PR manager Erik John Salut explained on his Twitter account why the sudden change. Call it "pay it forward", as Salut started.

Enrique Gil who had started making a name for himself is now his turn to help newcomers reach the stardom as how Coco (Martin) gave it Julia (Montes) and Julia (Montes) gave it to him (Gil).

Joining the cast are comedienne-turned-actress Pokwang, kapamilya-turned-kapuso-turned-kapamilya-again John Lapus, Gloria Diaz, James Blanco, and Mylene Dizon under the direction of Directors Erick Salud (Aryana, May Isang Pangarap) and Jerome Pobocan (Mara Clara, May Bukas Pa).
