Mark Gil dies of liver cirrhosis

Veteran actor Mark Gil has died. He was 52. Reports say that the actor died of liver cirrhosis. The family has yet to issue a statement on his death.


Veteran actor Mark Gil has died. He was 52. Reports say that the actor died of liver cirrhosis. The family has yet to issue a statement on his death.

Gil's health had been subject of blind items in the past months but his family denied that the actor had been battling a serious illness.

Born Ralph John Eigenmann, Mark Gil is the son of veteran actors Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil. His siblings include actors Michael de Mesa and Cherie Gil, and is the father of actors Gabby Eigenmann, Timmy Eigenmann (Sid Lucero), and Andi Eigenmann.

A prominent actor in the industry, Mark rose to fame in the movie Batch 81 directed by Mike de Leon, where he played a neophyte initiated in a fraternity.

Mark Gil was last seen in ABS-CBN hit drama The Legal Wife topbilled by Angel Locsin.
