Regine Velasquez's dad passes away

Regine Velasquez's dad, known as Mang Gerry has passed away. This was confirmed by singer Jaya, Regine's bestfriend, on her Facebook page.

"Rest in peace Mang Gerry... pls. pray for the Velasquez family... may your soul rest in peace."

Messages of condolences on Twitter and Facebook were sent to Regine Velasquez. Mang Gerry is more than 70 years old.

Update: Regine Velasquez has posted on her Instagram account and to quote:

The leader of the band, Mang Gerry, joined his creator 1:39pm today. Thank you for praying for him during all these time that he has been fighting for his life. God bless you all.
