Derek Ramsay recounts how ex-grilfriend Angelica Panganiban greeted him on his birthday

Derek Ramsay recounts how ex-grilfriend Angelica Panganiban greeted him on his birthday

The press people had a field day listening to actor  Derek Ramsay's story about how his ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban greeted him on his birthday.

In the press conference held for Regal Films movie "Love Is Blind" yesterday, January 21, Ramsay shared a funny story about him and ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban when the latter greeted him on his birthday last December.

Yes. You read it right. The ex-lovers have patched things up and it was the kapamilya actress who made the first move.

So here's the story.

Angelica greeted Derek on his birthday through a text message. "Belated happy birthday Derek – Gel", says on the text message. The problem is, Angelica had her number changed so Derek needed to ask who "Gel" it was who greeted him.

‘Thank you very much. Gel who?’, Derek replied.

Then the actor continued, "She said, ‘Angel.’ I replied, ‘Hahaha, Angel who?’ Sabi niya, ‘Baliw, ex mo.’ Iba na ang number niya. And then I called her, nag-usap kami and we caught up for a bit.”

In the end, Derek was thankful for he had been hoping and praying that time would come for them to heal everything and become as good friends again.

“We all have our own time to heal. It was nice for her to reach out and greet me for my birthday. It’s good kasi it’s something in my life na I’ve been hoping and praying for na magkaayos kami, maging magkaibigan ulit kami. Kasi six years is six years. Sobrang thankful ako na nag-text siya sa akin ng belated happy birthday,” sabi ni Derek.

Recall that the couple had a tumultuous breakup when one woman showed up and introduced herself as the wife then filed a concubinage case against the actor.

Meanwhile, Derek backed Angelica's denial that she and current boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz have called it 'QUITS'.

“Hindi totoo [na hiwalay na sila]. Patayin na ang issue na 'yan. Hindi totoo 'yan,” Ramsay said.

QC Councilor Roderick Paulate, dismissed from public office

QC Councilor Roderick Paulate, dismissed from public office

Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate and three others were charged guilty by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for falsification of official documents, serious dishonesty, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, and grave misconduct.

"Paulate and 1st District Rep. Francisco Calalay Jr., as well as liaison officers Flordeliza Alvarez and Vicente Bajamunde, are perpetually disqualified from holding public office. Their civil service eligibilities are also cancelled, and their retirement benefits forfeited", the report noted.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, Paulate and Calalay hired sixty “ghost contractual employees” who occupied various positions such as field inspectors, district coordinators and office aides. They also received salaries ranging from P5,000 to P10,000.

The investigation also found out that there were no birth certificates and NBI clearances submitted when the “employees” applied only endorsement letters. Their signatures are also inconsistent.

“Alvarez and Bajamunde were the ones who claimed the processed payrolls from the disbursing officer to have them signed by the supposed listed job contractors, returned the signed payrolls to the disbursing officer, and collected the full amount. They, however, failed to satisfactorily explain why each job contractor had different signatures appearing in the subject payrolls,” the decision read.

Donna Cruz welcomed by Star Music as the newest recording superstar

News came after @mychosdotcom, an ABS-CBN social media account, announced on their Instagram account last November 2015 about Star Music welcoming their newest "recording superstar" pertaining to Cruz.

Cruz rose to fame when she recorded her first two successful singles "Kapag Tumibok ang Puso" and "Rain". After which, numerous hit songs were tied under her belt making her the most successful multimedia star in the 90s. She had also made blockbuster movies and hit tv shows under Viva Films and GMA 7.

Who among Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, and Jessy Mendiola is the fittest to play Darna? Direk Erik Matti gives his insights.

Erik Matti, who will be directing the remake of Darna under Star Cinema, said in an interview with DZMM on January 16 that management is still looking for a replacement for Angel Locsin as the Philippine heroine. Angel had to back out of the project due to her health.

Director Erik said that he suggested that management hold auditions for the role since it would require intensive physical preparations.

“Gusto ko makita kung kakayanin ng artista. Kasi ang hirap na ngayon mag-double. Dati, mga five years ago, puwede pa mag-double sa eksena. Pero ngayon mahirap na with all the Hollywood films that come out where all the actors really prepare for the role. Gusto namin mag-audition,” he said.

“Ang burden nitong Darna na latest is over the past five years, na-bombard na tayo ng Marvel. Mahirap siya execution-wise na kung paano lang din yung dati,” he added.

Ever since the short teaser for Darna was released during the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) when films All You Need Is Pag-ibig and Beauty and the Bestie were shown, people began speculating that Liza Soberano, Nadine Lustre or Jessy Mendiola could be the next Darna.

Matti shared his insights on the three actresses.

“Si Liza (Soberano), yes puwede. She has the strength physically, 'yung itsura at katawan. And then tama 'yung edad and you can do a lot of things sa mukha niya. Puwede siya mag-iba-iba ng itsura and she could still look really good. At the same time, Pinay siya na maganda, pan-Asian. Mahirap 'yung mestiza eh,” he shared.

For Nadine, he said, “Okay din naman si Nadine. Hindi ko pa siya nakikita personal. Hindi ko pa nakikita kung gaano siya katangkad ngayon. Kasi I’ve done two commercials with her a year ago. Hindi ko lang alam kung ang height niya ay tama.”

“Si Jessy has the built. Maputi lang siya masyado. Personal ko ito na comment ha, hindi ito comment ng ABS-CBN. Maputi lang masyado si Jessy. Pinay dapat,” he commented.

In addition, he also commented on the idea of 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach portraying the role of Darna.

“Si Pia, alam niyo bagay na bagay si Pia pero in the history of Darna, hindi talaga umuubra 'yung beauty queen kasi kailangan mo talaga ng regular Pinay woman. Ordinaryo lang na character. Hindi siya kailangan vavavoom, hindi kailangan na stunning.”

ABS-CBN has not yet released an official date for Darna.
