"Felix Manalo" bags major awards at 2016 PMPC Star Awards for Movies

The Viva Entertainment-produced biopic "Felix Manalo" bagged major awards at the 2016 Star Awards for Movies held at the Resorts World Performing Arts Theater on Sunday, March 6.

The movie which tells the life story of Iglesia Ni Cristo's first Executive Minister, Bro. Felix Manalo, bagged five major awards including Best Movie, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Production Designer, and Original Theme Song of the Year which Sarah Geronimo performed.

Bea Alonzo was declared Best Movie Actress for the box office record-breaking film A Second Chance while Piolo Pascual and Dennis Trillo tied for Best Actor in Silong and Felix Manalo respectively.

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) has announced its official list of nominees for the 32nd Star Awards for Movies happening on March 6, 2016 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

29th PMPC Star Awards for TV 2015 Winners


Kapuso actor Alden Richards and Kapamilya actress Maja Salvador led the list of winners at this year's 29th Star Awards for Television. The event was held at the Kia Theater in Quezon City on Thursday.

Alden was named Best Drama Actor for his role in the GMA-7 mini-series “Illustrado,” where he played Jose Rizal. Meanwhile, Maja won Best Drama Actress for her role in the ABS-CBN drama series “Bridges of Love.”

PMPC Star Awards for Movies announces nominees for 2015

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) announced the official list of nominees for the 31st Star Awards for Movies. Awards night will be held on March 8, 2015 at The Theater of Solaire Hotel Resort and Casino in Paranaque City.

For this year, six movies are vying for Best Movie category (mainstream) which includes Starting Over Again, The Trial, The Gifted, Trophy Wife, English Only Please, and Bonifacio.

V veteran actress Celia Rodriguez was chosen by the body to receive the Nora Aunor Lifetime Achievement Award while film director Maryo J. Delos Reyes is the recipient of Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kim Chiu, Coco Martin, big winners at PMPC Star Awards for TV 2014


Ikaw Lamang stars Kim Chiu and Coco Martin were announced the big winners at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Television held on Sunday, November 23 at Solaire Resort.

Coco and Kim and were named Best Drama Actor and Actress, respectively, for their performances in the ABS-CBN drama “Ikaw Lamang.”

Kim bested six other actresses for the award, including Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador for “The Legal Wife” Bea Alonzo for Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon, and Lovi Poe and Maricel Soriano for “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real.”

“Ikaw Lamang” ruled this year's Star Awards for TV as it took home the Best Primetime Drama Series award, Best Supporting Actor award (for John Estrada) and Best Supporting Actress award (for KC Concepcion).

Comedy Queen Aiai Delas Alas is at it again, that is, cracking green jokes again. His latest target? Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo.

During the awarding rites of Dekada Actors and and Dekada Actresses at the 30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies held Sunday night March 9 at the Solaire Grand Ballroom, the comedy queen thanked the people who have become an instrument to her success in showbiz including Dennis Trillo whom she called her new inspiration.

"Nakatabi ko lang, inspirasyon ko na", said Delas Alas while laughing. "Oi, s*x tayo, ha", she said casually to Trillo. "Wala lang, para ano lang... nakakaanatok eh. Ganun-ganun lang. Syempre tong apat na 'to di ko na pwedeng ka-**x. Natikman ko na sila eh"

The comedy queen referred to other four Dekada actors behind her - Baron Geisler, John Lloyd Cruz, Aga Muhlach, and Piolo Pascual.

"Hindi, hindi, hindi, joke lang iyon. Pampasaya lang." added Delas Alas.

The 30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies awards night held in Solaire Grand Ballroom in Pasay City Sunday nght March 9.

Angel Locsin vs Bea Alonzo for PMPC Best Actress

Angel Locsin and Bea Alonzo are battling it out once again for PMPC's acting nod this year. Both kapamilya actresses are nominated for Best Actress for their performance in Star Cinema blockbuster movie Four Sisters And A Wedding which also stars Shaina Magdayao and Toni Gonzaga.

Watch their heated confrontation from the movie. Who deserves better?



Both actresses were also nominated for last year in the same category. Locsin for her performance as Grace in One More Try and Alonzo as Sari in The Mistress. The former was declared the winner.

Other actresses nominated are Vilma Santos (Ekstra) and Nora Aunor (Ange Kwento Ni Mabuti), KC Concepcion (Boy Golden), Rustica Carpio (Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?), and Lorna Tolentino (Burgos).

30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies list of nominees announced

30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies list of nominees

The PMPC Star Awards for Movies is now on its 30th year. For this year, PMPC introduces the Dakada Awards, recipients of which are actors, actresses, and directors who have made sterling and exemplary performances in movies for the period of 2003 - 2013.

For this year, PMPC names Judy Ann Santos, Eugene Domingo, and Ai-ai Delas Alas as Dekada Actresses. Aga Muhlach, John Lloyd Cruz, Jericho Rosales, Dennis Trillo, Baron Geisler, and Piolo Pascual for Dekada Actors. Joel Lamangan, Jose Javier Reyes, Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Mark Meily, Jerold Tarog, and Olivia Lamasan are named Dekada Directors.

Awarding ceremonies will be held on Sunday, March 9.
